Institute of Phytopathology and Biodiversity
On 12 January, 2012, the session of the Scientific Board of the RSU Scientific Center was held at the Conference Hall of the Direction of Phytopathology and Biodiversity.
The leadership of the Scientific Center and the University Administration heard and evaluated the 2011 Reports of all the directions of the RSU Scientific Center.
On 5-9 December, 2011, the staff meeting of the ISTC Partner Project (№G-1775p): „Evaluation of Cultivar Disease Resistance of Three Important Crops to Identify Best Practice Improvements in Crop Management for Agriculture in Georgia and Potentially Other South Caucasian Countries“, was held with the representative of the partner organization FERA (Food and Environment Research Agency) - Robert Bolton and Richard Thwaites. The reports were held on the accomplishment of the project and the priorities of the direction of Phytopathology and Biodiversity were introduced. On 10-13 the meeting continued in Tbilisi together with the representatives of Azerbaijan Agriculture Research Institute and Armenian Agriculture and Plant Protection Scientific Center. They discussed issues of further collaboration.
On 27-30 June, 2011 a traditional “Plant Health Clinic” was arranged, namely with the support of Ajara Ministry of Agriculture and the National Service of Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection. The researchers of the direction of Phytopathology and Biodiversity together with their British colleagues (collaborator – FERA - Food and Environment Research Agency, UK; representatives: Robert Bolton and Richard Thwaites) conducted free research on plant samples for analysis at mobile laboratories in Imereti and Batumi Central Market. The participants of the action informed the farmers of the regional municipalities about the research outcomes and recommendations.
